New GGUSD Career Exploration Program Attracts Students Across the District
- Friday, April 24, 2026
Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) demonstrated strong student engagement in its new after-school career exploration program with more than 110 students participating from high schools across the district.
The program offered hands-on experiences in three of GGUSD’s most popular Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways: automotive, culinary arts, and skilled trades. Held at Rancho Alamitos High School, the sessions took place from January through April on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:30 PM, providing students in grades 8–12 with valuable opportunities to build workplace skills through engaging, project-based learning led by industry experts.
Participants gained meaningful exposure to potential career options while working toward industry-recognized certifications. The initiative was designed in response to student interest in exploring future career fields and provided a unique opportunity for students to experience pathways that may not be available at their home school or to collaborate with peers who share similar interests.
“GGUSD is committed to enhancing its Career and Technical Education programs to ensure all students gain the skills, confidence, and real-world experiences necessary for future success,” said Board of Education Trustee Teri Rocco. “We are excited to broaden opportunities for high-quality learning that reflect and support students’ individual interests and goals.”
GGUSD currently offers 15 comprehensive Career Pathways across its eight high schools, along with CTE STEM courses at all 10 intermediate schools. Transportation support was provided to ensure equitable access for participating students.
