Demystifying College Myths

Garden Grove Unified School District, in collaboration with OC United Way, welcomed fourth through twelfth grade students and their families to an informational workshop series, Demystifying College Myths, on Thursday, March 26 at Alamitos Intermediate School. This event helps equip students with important skills to ensure they are on a path toward college readiness and addressed common myths or misconceptions about college.

The workshops provide families with the tools, guidance, and support needed to prepare students for college success with sessions tailored to each grade level.

Elementary parents learned about the pathway to college through building strong scholarly habits with a presentation from Superintendent Gabriela Mafi.

Demystifying College Myths 4th - 6th

Intermediate parents learned how to prepare their students for success in high school with a presentation from 7-12 Director of Instruction Sandra Valencia and AVID TOSA Randy Sheets.

Parents of ninth and tenth grade students learned about college eligibility requirements with a presentation from Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Dr. Stephanie Heflin
