February 2024 Employees of the Month

GGUSD’s Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize employees who: put others first; go above and beyond to make a difference in their role; carry out each day with a positive attitude and strong work ethic and demonstrate innovation, leadership, and passion for their job.

NgocLan Tran


NgocLan joined the district in 2007 as an Instructional Assistant II serving Special Education students at Lawrence Elementary and then at Los Amigos High School. In 2018, she began her role as an Instructional Assistant III for Specialized Physical Health serving students at Los Amigos High School from 2018-2021, Mark Twain in 2021-2022 and now at Heritage Computer Science Academy. NgocLan was nominated by a staff member who called her an angel. She said NgocLan loves children and cares for them as if they are her own. The staff member said her caring and considerate personality lights up the school every day. Thank you NgocLan for demonstrating the Garden Grove Way in the important work you do each day to support your students.

Amanda Mitton


Amanda joined the district in 2019 and serves as the choir teacher at Garden Grove High School. Amanda was nominated for this recognition by a student who said she goes above and beyond for her students, there is never a dull moment in her classroom, and she makes everything fun. She is known by her students for truly caring about their well-being and has built a warm and welcoming sense of belonging within the choir program. The student who nominated her is so grateful for the caring conversations she had with her. Amanda has done amazing work with Garden Grove High School’s choir program and helps create an enriching high school experience for all who participate.
