GGUSD Bus Driver Selected as Orange County Classified Employee of the Year

Garden Grove Unified School District employee Shannon Lauricella, who has served as a bus driver transporting students with special needs in the district for eight years, was named an Orange County Finalist for the Orange County Department of Education’s 2022 Classified Employee of the Year program.
GGUSD Student Earns Top Spot in OC Poetry Out Loud Competition

La Quinta High School Student Emily Dang earned second place in the county level of the National 2022 Poetry Out Loud competition which had more than 500 students participating. This week, Marcus Omari from Poetic Reform Party and Elizabeth AB Miller, the Program manager for Arts Orange County visited La Quinta to present Emily with an award in recognition of her second-place win.
Santiago High School Student Recognized as Youth of the Year

During a virtual ceremony on March 4, Santiago High School student Hazel Coronado was named the Orange County Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, a recognition that awarded her a $5,000 college scholarship. Coronado is the school’s Senior Class President and has been a member of Boys and Girls Club for 11 years.
La Quinta High School Named Champion School for Unified P.E. Program

The Garden Grove Unified School District is seeking qualified volunteers to serve on the independent Bond Oversight Committee (BOC), tasked with overseeing lawful and appropriate expenditures of the district’s bond funds. The Committee meets several times each year to provide public scrutiny and accountability for use of funds from Measure A, the $250 million bond measure approved in 2010 and Measure P, the $311 million bond measure approved in November 2016.
