Gifted and Talented Education Program (Gate)
GATE Mission Statement
Garden Grove Unified School District offers a Gifted and Talented Education Program for eligible students in the elementary and secondary settings. Classroom instruction, led by trained educators, is designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of gifted students. This instructional support provides the necessary challenge for gifted students to help them reach their full potential, which often extends beyond advanced levels of district and state standards. Students are offered acceleration, enrichment and challenge through an instructional program based on California State recommended program standards for gifted students.

Teacher Referral or Parent Referral
GATE candidates can be identified by either a teacher or parent referral. Both referrals carry equal value.
Teachers may discuss a child's candidacy with parent or simply submit a teacher referral and a parent will have the opportunity to agree to have their child tested.
A parent can independently submit a referral using the "Parent Referral Form”. The Parent Referral Form will ask what GATE behavioral characteristics your child exhibits. To submit a Parent Referral, select the option below that best fits your child’s situation and press the “Learn More” button.
For students that are currently enrolled at GGUSD.
For students that are enrolled elsewhere but reside inside GGUSD boundary.
