Facilities
Welcome to Facilities
The Facilities Department provides planning, design, construction, and execution of projects throughout the district, with the collaboration of licensed and qualified architects, engineers, and contractors, and district departments, including Instructional Technology and Maintenance & Operations.
Projects range from small requests such as classroom conversions or upgrades to Multi Purpose Room sound systems to extensive projects such as new buildings, solar panel installation or new track and field facilities.
Other items overseen by Facilities are:
- State School Facilities Program funding applications
- Approval of new buildings, and existing portable classrooms by Division of the State Architect
- Advertisement and Request for Qualifications from professional services such as architects, general contractors, and sub contractors
- Maintain qualified contractor list through the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) program
- Execution of District Site Modification Requests for all schools and district sites
- Collection of Developer Fees for new construction within the district boundaries
Once a project need is determined, scope of work is set, a budget is verified, and Board of Education has approved agenda item if applicable, Facilities staff and Project Managers proceed. A precise timeline is put in place and coordinated with outside professionals as well as collaboration with site administration, and other departments. Facilities goal is to be efficient, cause little, if any, disruption to class instruction, and Support the District’s Strategic Plan, Goal 2C – support schools and the district to demonstrate continued growth in maintaining a positive and safe learning climate for all stakeholders. With the improvement and upgrades to school and district sites and the continued preventative maintenance by our Facilities and M&O Teams, a greater sense of pride and integrity is present in students, staff and administrators, as Facilities continues to support GGUSD’s Strategic Plan, Goal Three-Lifelong Success to All Learners. After all, It’s the Garden Grove Way!
Our office hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. We are here to help and welcome your call or email.
